Gold Seal Award
The Florida Legislature established the Gold Seal Quality Care program to acknowledge child care facilities that are accredited by nationally recognized agencies and whose standards reflect quality in the level of care and supervision provided to children. We are proud to hold this distinction as an award for our high quality status.
Accreditation is a process where preschools and child care centers are evaluated and shown to meet high quality standards. When a preschool is accredited by A.P.P.L.E. Accreditation, it has proven itself to be a high quality institution. Only 10% of the nation’s preschools are accredited, and we are one of them! A.P.P.L.E. stands for Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment. We hold ourselves to a higher standard, come in for a visit and see the Sunny Start difference!
From the FACCM website, “FACCM is a nonprofit, professional organization of child care providers dedicated to ensuring the highest quality in the early learning industry through advocacy, education, and accreditation.” F.A.C.C.M. stands for Florida Association for Child Care Management. We enjoy being a part of F.A.C.C.M. and being a voice for children in Florida.
From the Quality Counts website, “Quality Counts is a voluntary rating system that reviews early learning programs according to clearly defined, high quality standards using a five-star method of evaluation and offers support to help providers reach their goals.” We joined Quality Counts by choice to show our commitment to improvement and grow as an academic institution!

Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Provider
A Sunny Start Preschool is a Certified VPK Provider. VPK gives children a jump start by preparing them for school and enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math, language and social skills. Children who participate in high-quality early childhood education programs develop better language skills, score higher in school-readiness tests and have better social skills and fewer behavioral problems once they enter school. If you have a child who turns 4 years of age by September 1, your child is eligible for Florida’s FREE VPK program.
